Recall a time in your life where you felt most motivated.

And by motivated, I mean when you started on something you were SO excited about.

Relive that feeling.

Doesn’t it feel amazing? The adrenaline rush and all?

Now this is what I want you to feel for the most part in 2019 — motivated. You know why? Because 2019 is YOUR year and we’re going to make it productive, positive, and a whole lot of fun!

5 HABITS YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY ADOPT IN 2019

  • CREATE A PERSONAL PLANNER

I can’t stress this enough.

Personally, having a planner is vital in my daily routine. Without it, I’d be lost and unorganized. There are so many benefits on having a personal planner and that includes:

  • time management

  • productivity

  • organization

  • stress relief

  • + many more!

I’ve had my fair share on having mobile and desktop planners but I’ve recently been gearing more towards bullet journaling. A bullet journal is essentially an organizational system/method that helps keep you track of everything and anything! It’s fully customizable to your liking and you can be as simple or creative with it. Remember, it’s YOUR bullet journal so don’t be afraid to toss a dash of yourself in it.

  • INVEST IN YOURSELF FOR THE RIGHT REASONS

When it comes to the word investment, people tend to assume: real estate, stocks, index fund, 401k, IRA etc. Although those could certainly be worth investing in, I was actually referring to something else and that is — yourself.

You might be turning your head to your right (or left) slightly confused. Well, what I mean by “investing in yourself” is allowing yourself to indulge on things that are beneficial for your overall well-being. These things consist of:

  • self-help books

  • podcasts

  • educational videos

  • + many more!

I’ll set myself as an example here. Recently, I’ve been into the finance world and wanted to further enhance my knowledge on it. Therefore, I decided to indulge on multiple podcasts, articles, finance-related videos, and even forums. It has been so beneficial and self-awakening — one of the best decisions I’ve made.

Investing in yourself doesn’t necessarily mean buying stuff for yourself. It can mean providing yourself more knowledge, happiness, and positive assurance.

My favorite MUST READ self-help book at the moment is: The One Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan

  • FIND A hobbY THAT YOU LIKE AND IMPLEMENT IT ON YOUR ROUTINE

When was the last time you’ve drawn? Perhaps painted? Or maybe picked up your guitar? (or did something you loved to do but simply don’t practice anymore?)

Has it been awhile? Why did you stop?

I’ve learned that implementing an activity that you like in your daily routine positively benefits you in various ways. It creates this unbreakable and happy bubble around you. It’s almost like your sacred and safe place. So why would you ever stop it?

Back then, I’ve lost so much motivation doing some of my hobbies due to:

  • “omg, I’m so busy.”

  • “not enough time.”

  • “that’s not me anymore.”

  • “I’m tired.”

I would then later realize how miserable I was — consumed by society and its pressure. Until I decided to set time for my hobbies again. It created such a positive difference and it grounded me in a way that distracted me from everything that was happening in my life. Basically what I’m trying to say is that it’s therapeutic so get on it!

  • AVOID FALLING IN A NEGATIVE RUT — THINK POSITIVE

smile.jpg

ahh, this.

When something bad happens, we tend to think of the worse of the worse and beat ourselves up. This is also when we overthink the CRAP out of everything and it all becomes too overwhelming.

Listen, take this from a former…debbie-downer, I suppose: LOOK AT THE POSITIVE SIDE OF THINGS EVEN WHEN IT SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE. Trust me, it changes everything. It’s so much easier said than done but if you at least try, it truly makes a huge difference.

I’ve quite mastered this trick and whenever it pops up I:

  • recognize it

  • accept it with an “everything happens for a reason mindset”

  • smile — think positively

  • and move on

Don’t dwell, complain, and lash out. What does that do? Nothing. Nothing but MORE negativity and perhaps actions you’ll be sorry of after your tantrum. Just follow those four steps listed above and you’ll attract positivity. I’m a firm believer of the Law of Attraction: positive/negative thoughts brings positive/negative experiences.

  • drink water right when you wake up

This is one of the most important yet overlooked habit — drinking water! Not only does it do wonders in your digestive system but it also acts as a primer for the food you’re about to devour.

Here are the main benefits of drinking water in the morning before anything else:

  • rehydration

  • better digestion

  • lowers bowels for your morning business (if you know what I mean)

The best way to implement this habit is having a glass of water in your nightstand. Do the same thing at night! It allows you to stay hydrated when your body is at rest. You’ll wake up not feeling parched.

Let’s start 2019 with a BANG! It’s never too late. I hope you all a healthy and rich new year!
